Clifford Aesthetics Acne Scar Removal Treatment

acne scar removal

Acne breakouts are frustrating and can potentially leave a lasting impact on your face and body in the form of acne scars. Acne affects adolescents and adults alike and unfortunately, up to fifty percent of people who experience acne will suffer from post-acne scarring.

Given the prevalence and high likely hood of post-acne scarring, it is no wonder that people are willing to spend large amounts of money on over-the-counter products and DIY home remedies in hopes of curing their scarring. The results obtained from these DIY remedies and over-the-counter creams however may be subpar at best, or an ineffective waste of money at worst.

If you are tired of feeling disappointment due to the lack of results from your current products or remedies, then perhaps it’s time to seek professional help. Acne scars do not have to be permanent; Clifford Aesthetics’ acne scar removal protocol comprises of a mixture of our signature acne scar treatments that will help restore your complexion and confidence.

HydraFacial

HydraFacial is a non-invasive multi-action treatment that goes above and beyond your typical facial experience – HydraFacial combines the use of hydra-dermabrasion, chemical peels and vortex extraction with the hydrating effect and comfort of a facial. This all-in-one treatment aims to cleanse, exfoliate, and hydrate your skin and alleviate acne scars, with the added benefit of stimulating collogen production to help add volume to depressed scar tissue, making these scars less visible.

Hydra-dermabrasion

Hydra-dermabrasion is a skin-resurfacing technique that uses water to exfoliate, cleanse and resurface the skin to smoothen out wrinkles, softening the edges of scars and reduce the appearance acne scars/blemishes.

Acid peel

A mild acid peel solution is applied as part of the HydraFacial treatment, this step dislodges and partially dissolve comedones (bumps on the skin formed due to the accumulation of dirt, excess sebum and dead skin cells trapped inside pores).

Vortex extraction

Specialised HydraFacial tips are used during the treatment session. The vacuum suction attachment tip extracts impurities using vortex suction, deep cleansing and unclogging pores.

Chemical Peel

During a chemical peel, salicylic acid is applied to the treatment area to remove/peel away the top layer of the skin. Chemical peels are done as a form of skin resurfacing procedure and can be done as a stand-alone treatment or in combination with other acne scar removal treatments.

Depending on the depth of the peel done (determined by the percentage of acid used in the peel solution), salicylic acid peels can be used to improve a wide range of skin conditions ranging from freckles and uneven skin tones to acne scars.

Salicylic acid helps to prevent the formation of acne by clearing dirt, dead skin cells, and other debris from the pores of the skin and by exfoliating skin cells. At low concentrations, chemical peels containing Salicylic acid have an anti-inflammatory effect that reduces swelling and redness in the treatment area, which may minimize the appearance of scarring on the skin.

Salicylic acid is beneficial for all scar types and makes a good addition to any daily skin care routine for most people who live with acne. People with sensitive skin may need to test products containing this acid on a small area of skin before using it on their entire face, as it may cause dryness or irritation.

CO2 Acne Scar Treatment

Co2 treatments are usually recommended for the treatment depressed acne scars. Inflammatory acne such as red blemishes, pimples, zits and nodules can leave behind depressed acne scars when they form on top of collagen rich scar tissue and prevent the skin from repairing properly.

Depressed acne scars appear as depressions or pits on the surface of the skin, some examples of depressed acne scars include boxcar scars, ice-pick scars and rolling scars. CO2 acne scar removal treatment resurfaces the skin, making depressed scars less visible.

Intense Pulsed Light

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), also known as a photofacial, is a treatment that is gentle on your skin but has the ability to improve various types of skin conditions simultaneously. IPL treatment uses multiple wavelengths of pulsating light to heat skin cells in the treatment area to break down targeted cells, allowing the body to naturally remove pigmented or damaged skin cells.

IPL can be used to improve a wide range of skin conditions including, but not limited to, acne scars, active acne breakouts, rosacea, skin discoloration, broken capillaries, and hyperpigmentation.

Local Dynamic Micro-Ultrasound with Bellasonic

Local Dynamic Micro-Ultrasound (LDM) with Bellasonic is effective in lightening acne scars.

Acne scars can be hypertrophic (raised) or atrophic (depressed) and are formed when the skin heals incorrectly after an acne outbreak, causing collagen structures in the skin become misaligned. LDM disrupts these misaligned collagen structures and stimulates collogen realignment, evening out the skin and alleviating acne scars. The enhanced regenerative process promoted during LDM treatment also discourages future acne outbreaks and acne scar formation.

Gold PTT

Gold PTT, short for Gold Photothermal Therapy, is a treatment that employs the use of selective photothermolysis to alleviate Acne Vulgaris (acne). As the name suggests, Gold PTT treatment uses specialised gold nanoparticles to convert photon (light) energy into thermal (heat) energy, which is then used to heat and modify the sebaceous follicles that cause acne. Targeted heating of the pores and glands responsible for creating acne modifies them to reduce oil production, thus reducing acne breakout.

Scars caused by acne can form as small and deep holes on the skin, or as large and irregular indentations. Once an acne scar forms, it can potentially become a permanent mark that lasts a lifetime. With lesser acne breakout, the frequency of the formation of acne lesions on the face can be greatly reduced, lowering the risk of acne scarring.

Creams

Topical retinoids creams are suitable for treating mild to moderate acne breakouts. Retinoid creams are usually used as a first-line response/treatment to an emerging acne outbreak, but they also provide scar-smoothing benefits. In addition to speeding up cell regeneration and improving the skin’s texture, retinoids creams also help to reduce discoloration and make scars less noticeable.

They can, however, make your skin especially sensitive to the sun, thus it is advisable to always wear sunscreen daily when using topical medication/creams that contains retinoids.
